Maddin Hauser’s Statement Concerning Recent Events

Maddin Hauser’s Statement Concerning Recent Events

Former United States Supreme Court Justice Thurgood Marshall said, “Sometimes history takes things into its own hands.” At this critical and painful moment in history, the remedy for injustice rests in the hands of each of us.

Society has conferred upon its lawyers the privilege to practice law and the honor to be of service to our community and the justice system. Our justice system rests upon public trust and confidence in the rule of law and the principle of equal justice for all. Our lawyers’ oath professes that we must not turn our backs to the cause of the defenseless and the oppressed. Recent events have shaken and tested public trust in our justice system. As lawyers, we continue to seek equal justice for all in our community and our legal system, and to guide our actions towards the best in all of us.

We condemn racism, and the violence, hatred and suffering that it brings, in all of its many forms. We join with those who seek to create a fair, peaceful and just society for all. In our firm’s history, we have supported and embraced causes for the betterment of our community. The pain and suffering inflicted on the most vulnerable members of our society binds us all together and compels us to use our shared strength for positive change. Words and aspirations alone are never enough, and we will continue to answer the call to action.
