Defense Success Stories: Court Dismisses Case Against Criminal Defense Attorney

Plaintiff alleged that his criminal defense attorney negligently represented him following a traffic stop. Unfortunately for Plaintiff, he filed his suit in the Michigan Court of Claims. We moved to dismiss the case on the basis that the Court of Claims has statutory jurisdiction to consider claims against the state or any of its departments or officers, but not private individuals. The Court agreed and dismissed the case against the criminal defense attorney.
