Maddin Hauser Elevates Three Attorneys to Shareholders

01.08.26

Maddin Hauser is pleased to announce that Michael J. Hamblin, Carly R. Kolo, and Mariel G. Newhouse have been elevated to shareholders. The elevation of these three outstanding attorneys is a testament to the firm’s commitment to nurturing talent and fostering an environment for people to thrive. Mike, Carly, and Mariel became shareholders effective January 1, 2026.

Mike is an accomplished litigator in our complex litigation and risk advisory group, with a strong background in handling commercial and real estate disputes, as well as other contested matters. He enjoys a busy and diverse practice comprising business litigation, non-compete agreement matters, partnership/shareholder disputes, minority shareholder oppression cases, Michigan sales commission disputes, breach of contract litigation, real estate disputes, and trusts and estates litigation. Throughout his career, Mike has appeared in state and federal courts, including the United States Supreme Court and the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. He earned his law degree at Wayne State University Law School.

A member of our estate planning and probate group, Carly guides individuals and families through the sensitive yet critical conversations involved in preparing and implementing comprehensive estate plans, as well as the complexities of administering estates and trusts. Her clients range from high-net-worth individuals and those with more modest estates to business owners and blended families, as well as couples just starting their life journeys together and those approaching their golden years. She creates tailored plans reflective of each client’s unique family dynamics, financial picture, and personal goals. She earned her law degree from Michigan State University College of Law.

As part of our employment and workforce management practice group, Mariel focuses her practice on helping employers prevent and resolve costly and disruptive employment law claims. She works collaboratively with employers and their management and human resources professionals to develop and implement compliant hiring and employment policies and training programs, draft employee handbooks, prepare employment agreements, and respond to administrative actions and investigations, including matters before the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission and state-level equivalents. Mariel earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Michigan State University College of Law.

On the heels of Maddin Hauser’s 100th anniversary in 2025, elevating three talented attorneys to shareholders underscores its continued commitment to meaningful growth and serves as a testament to its dedication to delivering exceptional client service.
