Michigan REjournals Names Steve Sallen Real Estate Lawyer of the Year 

Maddin Hauser is proud to announce that our president and CEO, Steven D. Sallen, was selected as the Real Estate Lawyer of the Year at the Michigan REjournals 2025 Detroit Commercial Real Estate Awards. A panel of industry leaders served as judges to evaluate the nominees. The awards recognize individuals and corporations who are leaders in their field and are making a positive impact.

In addition to this most recent honor, Steve was recognized as a Michigan Lawyers Weekly “Go To” lawyer in commercial real estate for the second time. He was previously selected in 2021 and named to Michigan Lawyers Weekly’s Hall of Fame in 2020. He consistently earns praise for his legal acumen in several peer-reviewed listings, including Best Lawyers in America, Super Lawyers, Leading Lawyers, and DBusiness Top Lawyers.

Steve concentrates his practice in real estate, environmental, and corporate law. His clients include some of Michigan’s most successful manufacturing firms, real estate developers, general contractors, and commercial real estate brokers. 

Having built a distinguished career at Maddin Hauser, Steve has also dedicated significant time to firm leadership. He serves as president, CEO, Environmental Law Group chair, and Real Estate Practice Group co-chair. Throughout his 40 years of practice, Steve has left his mark on many significant commercial real estate developments and transactions while advising clients on their day-to-day real estate and business issues. Steve brings integrity, civility, and expertise to negotiating and closing real estate projects, both large and small.
