ALEXIS (LEXI) A. LAURING, an associate in Maddin Hauser’s Financial Services and Real Property Litigation group, brings substantial in-house and outside counsel experience to her work representing national and regional commercial banks and other institutional lenders in a wide variety of secured and unsecured finance transactions.
From origination to workouts and throughout every phase of the lending lifecycle, Lexi focuses on shielding her clients from avoidable risks and maximizing their recovery on distressed loans. She has consistently demonstrated her agility and creativity when structuring, negotiating, and closing deals with sophisticated counterparties in a way that aligns with and achieves her clients’ goals.
Lexi’s experience includes counseling lenders on bilateral loans and credit facilities, asset-based lending, leveraged finance transactions, first/second lien transactions, and other domestic and cross-border financing. When borrowers are at risk of or in default, she crafts efficient and effective solutions for lenders in workouts, loan modifications, negotiation of forbearance agreements, disposition of collateral pursuant to Article 9 of the Uniform Commercial Code, orderly wind-downs, and liquidations.
Prior to joining Maddin Hauser, Lexi worked as a senior underwriter at a large mortgage lender, gaining invaluable insights that have helped her better serve clients in her current capacity. Her responsibilities included evaluating the strength of loan applicants to determine risk and repayment capacity, ensuring that mortgage loan applications conformed with all FNMA and FHLMC guidelines and company overlays, and restructuring ineligible loans for eventual approval.
A cum laude graduate of Bryn Mawr College, Lexi earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Wayne State University Law School, where she received the Order of the Coif.
