Harvey Heller Addresses Defense Research Institute Members on Law Firm Succession Planning

Shareholder Harvey Heller recently appeared on a panel of experts addressing leadership and generational transitions in law firms. The presentation—“Designing A Succession Plan for Your Law Firm”—was part of the Defense Research Institute’s 2021 Professional Liability Seminar at the Sheraton New York Times Square Hotel in New York City on December 9 and 10.

Statistics show 63 percent of law firm partners 60 or older control at least a quarter of their firms’ revenue, yet most firms have no succession plan in place to address senior partners’ departures. Harvey and his co-presenters discussed the process and challenges of succession planning, and offered best practices for developing an effective model to recruit and retain top talent and transition lawyers and clients.

Harvey serves as a managing director on Maddin Hauser’s executive committee and chairman of the firm’s Defense and Insurance Coverage group.
